Driver charged after crashing classic Corvette into trees: OPP

A Penetanguishene woman is facing impaired-related charges after a crash involving a classic car Monday in Tiny Township.

Emergency crews responded at about 7:45 p.m. on April 22 to a report of a single-vehicle collision on Rue Lafontaine East and found a 1970s-era Chevrolet Corvette lodged in a forest about 25 metres off the road, Southern Georgian Bay OPP said in a news release.

The driver received care from paramedics and was then taken to the OPP detachment for breath samples.

Stephanie Smith, 50, has been charged with operation while impaired and operation while impaired (over 80). She was released and will appear in court in Midland at a later date. Her driver’s licence will be suspended for 90 days and the vehicle will be impounded for seven days.

None of the allegations have been tested in court.
