Driver airlifted to Toronto hospital after crash in Orillia

A collision Thursday at Highway 12 and Forest Avenue in Orillia sent one person to hospital.

A 27-year-old man was airlifted to a Toronto-area trauma centre with life-threatening injuries following a crash today in Orillia. 

The two-vehicle collision happened shortly before 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 18.

The driver of the sedan, a 27-year-old man, was extricated by firefighters and paramedics, and later flown to Toronto. 

The sedan was T-boned by a large commercial truck at Highway 12 and Forest Avenue. The driver of the sedan was taken to Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital before being airlifted to Toronto.

Highway 12 was closed between Atherley Road and Gill Street.
