South-end crash leads to impaired charges for Barrie man

Police say suspect had more than four times the legal limit of alcohol in his system following morning crash on Pine Drive

Barrie police were called to a crash on Pine Drive, Wednesday.

A Barrie man is facing impaired driving charges following a crash Wednesday on Pine Drive in the city's south end.

Barrie police responded shortly after 11 a.m. to the report of a vehicle having collided with a parked car. Police said the driver responsible left the scene and continued on to an address on Spruce Crescent.

The suspect was located and taken to Barrie police headquarters, where a breathalyzer determined he had nearly four times the legal amount of alcohol in his system.

The 49-year-old man has been charged with impaired operation, operation over 80 milligrams and driving without a licence. He has an April 19 court date in Barrie.
