Charges laid in armed robbery investigation

On Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018, just before 12 p.m., a man was accosted and robbed of his vehicle at gun point outside his home on Kozlov Street, in the City of Barrie.

The two suspects, one armed with a handgun, fled the area in the victim’s pick-up truck. Within minutes of the incident being reported to police, the vehicle had been observed traveling southbound on Highway 400. The vehicle was quickly stopped at the Mapleview Drive exit and the two suspects were taken into custody by police, including officers from the Canine and Tactical Support Units.

An 18-year-old Sudbury man has been charged with robbery, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, fail to comply with probation order and numerous firearm related offences.

An 18-year-old Brampton man has been charged with robbery, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon and numerous firearm related offences.

Both men appeared in a Barrie bail court on Friday, Feb. 16, 2018, and were remanded into custody. They are scheduled for a second appearance on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2018.
