Barrie police is urging parents and coaches to remind their children and players to never leave valuables behind in change rooms.

On Sunday evening, police responded to a report of a significant number of cellphones, debit cards and other personal property that had been stolen from a change room at a recreational facility in north-end Barrie.

Police tell BarrieToday that 13 people had property stolen at East Bayfield Community Centre.

Police say the investigation is in its early stages and officers with the street crime unit are in the process of trying to secure video surveillance footage that may assist in identifying who is responsible.

Barrie police also strongly encourages people to use caution when purchasing used electronic devices that may be advertised on social media or online marketplace sites.
