Car locked on radar traveling 74 km over speed limit

INNISFIL - On Dec. 14, 2017, around 3:15 p.m., a Constable from the Traffic Unit was conducting speed enforcement on the 10th Sideroad in the Town of Innisfil.

The officers attention was drawn to a car moving at a high rate of speed northbound on 10th Sideroad. The car was measured in radar at 154 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone.

Police caught up to and stopped to the car safely near Hwy 400 and County Road 89. While the officer was speaking to the driver, he detected an odour of alcohol coming from his breath.

A roadside screening device was conducted resulting in a 'fail'. The driver was arrested and taken to the station for further testing.

A 50 year old man from Innisfil has been charged with impaired driving, drive over 80 mgs, stunt driving, dangerous driving and speeding. His car was towed and impounded for seven days and his driver's licence was suspended for 90 days.

He will appear in Bradford Court later this month to answer to these charges.
