Brampton resident charged following puppy theft in Alliston: OPP

Police say two people went to a home to inquire about purchasing a pug puppy before grabbing the dog and running away without paying

A Brampton man has been arrested and charged following an alleged puppy theft in Alliston earlier this week. 

Nottawasaga OPP responded to the area of Treetops Boulevard in New Tecumseth on Tuesday, March 22 around 5 p.m.

Police say two people went to a residence to inquire about purchasing a pug puppy. When the opportunity arose, they allegedly grabbed the dog and ran away with no money being exchanged.

A male suspect was located a short distance away. 

A 24-year-old Brampton man has been charged with theft under $5,000 and breach of recognizance. He is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford on April 28, 2022.

Police say a second suspect also remains at large. He is described as wearing all black and of East Indian descent.  

Police also remind the public that the Nottawasaga OPP detachment has a Project Safe Trade Zone at the front parking lot. The spaces promote a safe location to facilitate property transactions typically with people that you don't know. The area is clearly marked with two signs. The detachment is located at 4601 Industrial Parkway in Alliston.
