CALEDON - The Caledon Detachment Major Crime Unit has made two more arrests in relation to a shooting that occurred in the Town of Caledon in June. In total, four individuals have been charged in relation to the investigation.
On Saturday, June 26, 2021 at approximately 6:16 a.m., officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a reported shooting on a private property located in the area of Highway 10 and Escarpment Side Road in the Town of Caledon.
Upon arrival, officers located a victim, a 40-year-old male of Mississauga, suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a trauma centre with serious injuries. A second victim, a 26-year-old male of Brampton, was located off-site. The individual sustained non-serious injuries.
As a result of the police investigation, one of the suspects was arrested on July 10, 2021, and charged with:
• Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
• Accessory after the fact to commit indictable offence
On July 14, 2021, the second suspect was arrested and charged with:
• Attempt to commit murder using firearm
• Possession of cannabis for the purpose of selling
On July 22, 2021, Donovan Darlington, 30, of Bradford West Gwillimbury, was arrested and charged with:
• Attempt to commit murder using firearm
The accused was held for a bail hearing and is expected to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on a later date.
On July 24, 2021, Amanda Tobin, 33, of Caledon, was arrested and charged with:
• Obstruct peace officer
• Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking
The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on Oct. 4, 2021 to answer to the charges.
