Barrie woman dies in head-on crash near Shelburne

Second driver taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries

MELANCTHON - On Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at approximately 11:09 p.m., Dufferin OPP were dispatched to a serious personal injury head-on collision on Dufferin County Road 124 at 30th Side Road in Melancthon Township. Dufferin EMS and local Fire Departments attended as well.

Upon arrival, preliminary investigation revealed that a Jeep Liberty and Dodge sedan had collided head on. The driver of the Dodge sedan, 25-year-old Adina Seepersad of Barrie, Ont., was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Jeep Liberty, a 52-year-old female driver from Melanchthon, was taken to Collingwood General and Marine Hospital with life-threatening serious injuries. She was subsequently take to a Toronto area Trauma centre.

OPP Technical Collision Investigators attended the scene and the Highway 124 was closed for seven hours while police processed the scene. The incident is still under investigation and no charges have been laid.
