On Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2021, the Barrie Police Internet Child Exploitation Unit arrested an 18-year-old male after a lengthy social media (Instagram/Discord) investigation for the criminal offences of personation, luring a child, and making sexually explicit material available to a child.
[It is alleged that] the accused used Instagram to create a fake account and reached out to several victims under the age of 18, exploited them into participating in explicit chats and requested explicit images.
A computer device was also seized for a forensic analysis.
The accused was later released and given a future court date.
