Barrie resident charged in Kawartha Lakes crash

OPP say driver, 23, turned left into path of another vehicle

On March 23, 2020, an officer from the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a two-vehicle collision that resulted in one driver being charged with four offences.

The collision occurred at approximately 5:42 p.m., on Highway 35 near Boundary Road. It was determined that one vehicle turned left in front of the other involved vehicle.

No injuries were reported. 

As a result of the investigation, the 23-year-old driver, from Barrie, was charged with the following offences:

  • Traffic on through highway - fail to yield, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act (HTA)
  • Use plate not authorized for vehicle, contrary to the HTA
  • Class G1 licence holder - unaccompanied by qualified driver, contrary to the HTA
  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance, contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on July 23, 2020.
