A Barrie man and a London teen have been charged in connection to a reported vehicle theft and subsequent police pursuit early Wednesday morning.

According to South Simcoe police, officers responded around 1:20 a.m. to a gas station on Commerce Park Drive in Innisfil for a vehicle theft.

Police say the female victim told investigators she was pumping gas when two male suspects approached and stole her car. The woman was not physically injured.

While investigating the incident, police received another call about a suspicious vehicle in the area of St. Paul Road and Edgar Street in Alcona. Police say it turned out to be the stolen car, which was then located by officers and a "short pursuit" followed.

Two cruisers were struck by the suspect vehicle before it was boxed in and the suspects arrested, according to police. No one was injured. The stolen vehicle was returned to the owner. Police say they also discovered a second vehicle the suspects had tried to steal near the gas station where the victim's car was taken.

As a result of the investigation, 21-year-old Hunter Samson-Boucher of Barrie was charged with 27 offences involving a series of occurrences since the beginning of September in collaboration with other police agencies. The charges include theft over $5,000, theft of a motor vehicle, break and enter, flight from police, and breach of probation.

A 15-year-old male youth from London, who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with two counts of theft of a motor vehicle and possession of property obtained by crime.

Both accused were held for bail hearings.
