Barrie man facing child pornography charges

Together the Barrie Police Service and Northern Alberta Police Internet Child Exploitation Unit's commenced a child pornography investigation and arrested a 30-year-old Barrie man.

The investigation led to the execution of a search warrant at an address on Patrick Drive, in the City of Barrie, and the seizure of four devices. It is alleged the accused was in possession of child pornography and attempted to lure a 14-year-old victim residing in Alberta.

The accused has been charged with:

  • Luring a person under 16 years of age
  • Possession of child pornography
  • Possession for the purpose of distributing or sale of child pornography 
  • Invitation to sexual touching

The accused was held for a bail hearing and will appear in a Barrie Court of Justice on Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018.

The Barrie Police Internet Child Exploitation Unit is a partner within Ontario’s “Provincial Strategy” to protect children from sexual abuse and exploitation on the internet. This project has been made possible by a grant from the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services.
