Barrie man facing child porn charges

On Friday, Feb. 16, 2018, investigators of the Barrie Police Service Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit have arrested a 39-year-old Barrie man following a child pornography investigation.

It is alleged the accused initiated contact with a 14-year-old female, which further led to inappropriate conversations. The investigation led to the seizure of two devices belonging to the accused.

The accused has been charged with luring a person under 16 years of age and possession for the purpose of publication of any child pornography.    

The accused was held for bail, and is scheduled to appear in a Barrie Court of Justice on Wednesday, March 14, 2018.

The Barrie Police Internet Child Exploitation Unit is a partner within Ontario’s “Provincial Strategy” to protect children from sexual abuse and exploitation on the internet. This project has been made possible by a grant from the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services.
