Barrie man faces child luring charges

Stands accused of serious child sexual abuse, exploitation charges

On Thursday, March 7, 2019, members of the Barrie Police Service Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit arrested a 37-year-old Barrie man following an investigation into inappropriate online exchanges.

The investigation led to the execution of a warrant and the seizure of electronic devices, for further forensic analysis.

The accused has been charged with; Luring a Child, Sending Sexually Explicit Material to a Child and Invitation to Sexual Touching. He appeared in a Barrie Court of Justice on Friday, March 8, 2019.

The Barrie Police Internet Child Exploitation Unit is a partner within Ontario’s “Provincial Strategy” to protect children from Sexual Abuse and Exploitation on the internet. This project has been made possible by a grant from the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services.
