The South Simcoe Police Service charged two people with impaired driving offences over the weekend.
On Friday, July 16, 2021, at approximately 11:20 p.m., police set up a RIDE Program on Simcoe Road in Bradford. One of the drivers stopped was arrested for impaired driving and transported to South Division.
As a result of the investigation, 32-year-old Richard Wilson of Bradford was charged with driving while under suspension, operation while impaired and operation while impaired – excess blood alcohol. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days.
On Sunday, July 18, 2021, at approximately 6:50 a.m., police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on the 5th Line between Yonge Street and Sideroad 10 in Innisfil.
The vehicle had collided with a tree and struck two road signs. The male driver was located uninjured and was arrested for impaired driving.
As a result of the investigation, 32-year-old Tyler Donofrio of Barrie was charged with dangerous operation, operation while impaired and operation while impaired – excess blood alcohol. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days.
Driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol is a crime in progress. If you spot a possible impaired driver, call 911 immediately.
Here are some possible signs of an impaired driver:
- Driving unreasonably fast, slow or at an inconsistent speed
- Drifting in and out of lanes
- Tailgating and changing lanes frequently
- Making exceptionally wide turns
- Changing lanes or passing without sufficient clearance
- Overshooting or stopping well before stop signs or stop lights
- Disregarding signals and lights
- Approaching signals or leaving intersections too quickly or slowly
- Driving without headlights, failing to lower high beams or leaving turn signals on
- Driving with windows open in cold or inclement weather
From Friday, July 16, 2021, to Monday, July 19, 2021, South Simcoe Police Service officers responded to 224 calls for service.
