Barrie driver nabbed for speeding, impaired on Highway 11

After failing roadside test, 38-year-old was issued a 90-day driver's licence suspension and vehicle was impounded for seven days

On Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at approximately 2:50 p.m., members of the Almaguin Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police conducted a routine traffic stop on Highway 11. The driver of the vehicle underwent a roadside test. 

Police investigation revealed that Campbell MacLeod, 38, of Barrie, had consumed alcoholic beverages and was subsequently arrested and charged with: 

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol, contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC) and
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the CC and
  • Speeding 1- 49 km/hr over the posted limit, contrary to section 128 of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).

The accused was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday, April 14, 2022, in Sundridge, Ontario.
