On Thursday, Feb. 7, 2019 around 2:30 p.m., a South Simcoe Police Service officer observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on the 8th Line in the area of Woods Crescent in Bradford. A speed measurement was obtained of 76 km/h in the posted 50 km/h zone.

A traffic stop was initiated where the officer learned the driver had been under suspension dating back almost 20 years. The officer also noted damage to the windshield and an unreadable licence plate.

A 47-year-old Barrie man was charged with speeding, driving while under suspension, entire plate not plainly visible and no clear view to front. The vehicle was towed from the scene. The driver was given a court date in March.

Traffic is a top concern among our residents and officers are on patrol every day and night to ensure road safety. Speed kills. We all have a role to play by slowing down.
