8 people charged with violating stay-at-home order, trespassing at vacant residence

ADJALA-TOSORONTIO TWP. – On Thursday, April 29, 2021, at 3:55 a.m., members of the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a Trespass to Property (TPA) call at a vacant residence on the 20th Sideroad of Adjala-Tosorontio.

Information provided to police from a concerned citizen was that a number of unknown voices could be heard and flashlights seen on the property.

Police attended to investigate and located three male adults and five male youth trespassing and in violation of the current Stay-at-Home Order, under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act (EMPCA), and the Reopening Ontario Act (ROA).

As a result of the investigation, three male adults and five male youths, all from the Peel Region, have each been charged with the following: 

  • Enter premises when entry prohibited, contrary to the Trespass to Property Act 
  • Individual - fail to comply with an order made during a declared Emergency, contrary to the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act.
