On Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2018, members of the Barrie Police Service Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit arrested a 63-year-old Barrie man following a child pornography investigation.

In March of 2016, a local resident located an SD card on the ground outside an office building, within the City of Barrie. The finder made an attempt to locate the owner of the SD card and in doing so, found pornographic images on the card and immediately turned it over to police.

A lengthy forensic investigation was completed and as a result a search warrant was executed on the SD card and the owner was identified. Furthermore, investigators seized nine devices belonging to the accused.

The accused has been charged with possession of child pornography and voyeurism. He will appear in a Barrie Court of Justice in March of 2018.

The Barrie Police Internet Child Exploitation Unit is a partner within Ontario’s Provincial Strategy to protect children from Sexual Abuse and Exploitation on the internet. This project has been made possible by a grant from the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services.
