13-year-old killed by train in Springwater: OPP

SPRINGWATER TWP. – On Sunday, Feb. 21, at approximately 9:20 a.m, members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an incident involving a pedestrian being struck by a train near Baldwick Lane north of Highway 90 in the Township of Springwater.

Initial investigation indicates that the 13-year-old pedestrian was out on the track walking his dog and was struck by a Canadian Pacific Railway (CP) train travelling westbound and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Huronia West OPP with the assistance of the OPP Forensic Identification Services and CP Rail Police are jointly investigating the incident.

Huronia West OPP are appealing to any witnesses who may have witnessed this incident. Anyone with information is asked to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122, or by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
