THOMPSON, Grace Isobel Rose (nee Andersen)

Posted

August 6, 1928 - March 21, 2021

Lonely are our hearts today on March 21, 2021 as we say good-bye to our spunky Mom in her 93rd year. Grace will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Cherished wife of Eldon (Eldie) (predeceased) and mother of Christine Lambert (Wayne), Debi Stonkus (Chris), Margaret Thomas and Barb Rafuse (Derek). Proud Nana of Bryan (Melissa), Daniel, Tim, Melissa (Joe), Holly, Nick, Dave and Andrew. Exceptionally proud Great Nana to Noah, Quinn and Hunter. Peace will come as she joins her predeceased sisters; Elizabeth Richardson (Jack) and Sarah Davidson (James). Grace will be missed by her many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and long-life friends. Grace was a great supporter of all the activities her children and their friends of which there were many, including Eastview String Orchestra and Barrie Figure Skating Club. Grace was born in Toronto and as a young girl the family moved to Longford Mills. She met the love of her life in Dalston and she and Eldie raised their four daughters in Barrie. Grace had a love for the outdoors including gardening, baseball and enjoying the beautiful Barrie waterfront. Grace was a great crafter, including quilting, crocheting, knitting and sewing. Many Brides, Bridesmaids and Prom goers have Mom to thank for her beautiful creations. Grace returned to school and studied accounting and was a long-time employee at Paul Sadlon Motors. Much appreciation to Amica Little Lake for Mom’s care over the last few years. They made her days happy and she felt at home there.

Cremation has taken place, with a private family service entrusted to the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie.  A celebration of Grace’s life will be planned in the near future at St Margaret of Scotland Anglican Church in Barrie.  If desired, and in lieu of flowers, donations in Grace’s memory to a charity of choice would be greatly appreciated.
