Sullivan Photo
Passed peacefully at his home in Utopia, ON on January 29th, 2021 at the age of 75. Born in Barrie, and survived by Gloria, his beloved wife of 49 years. Loving father of Janice (Rob). Cherished grandfather of Michael, Kate, Ashley and Kaylin. Predeceased by his parents Clare and Bruce Sullivan, his sister Anne Marie, and brother Jimmy. Dear brother of Jerry, and brother-in-law to Ron (Ethel), Shirley (late Paul), Loraine (Jim), Bonnie, and Stanley. Will be sadly missed by his many nieces, nephews and life-long friends in the Barrie area.
Gord’s love of harness racing and visits to the racetrack was second only to his love and devotion to his family. He was a long-time employee of Dana Canada, where he made many personal connections through the years leading to his retirement. Gord was known as a kind, caring, generous, funny and selfless man. Despite a quiet, yet courageous battle with cancer, he simply refused to focus on himself or discuss a time when he would no longer be with his family.
Cremation has taken place, with arrangements entrusted to the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie. In consideration of current Covid-19 restrictions, a celebration of Gord’s life will be held at a later date.
The family would like to take this opportunity to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Bailey, Dr. Ray and Dr. Li for their ongoing care and compassion. Donations in Gord’s memory may be made to a charity of choice and are greatly appreciated.
