July 29, 1991 – August 25, 2021
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of David Smith on Wednesday August 25, 2021, at the age of 30.
Anyone who had the privilege of knowing David whether it be as a friend, teammate, colleague or member of the family, knew the warmth of his smile and his heart.
David enjoyed life and you would often find him on the golf course, playing his guitar, fussing with his grass and hydrangeas or at the skateboard park. He was passionate about skateboarding and was well known with the Barrie skateboarding community. David was an avid Toronto Maple Leafs fan and wore the Blue and White proudly.
The center of David’s world was his mom, Kathy Gresswell; his loyal best buddy Freckers or “The Freak” as David liked to call him; and his adored niece BB.
Gone too soon, David will be dearly missed by his sister Jennifer (Jon) Miner, niece Brooklyn and nephew Benjamin; his aunts Carol Gresswell, Karen Forkutza (Dave) and cousins Gregory and; Branden; his father Tim Smith; grandmother Joan Smith (LaLa); aunts and uncles Genny, Debbie, Cathy, Don, Doug and Larry; and many other family and friends.
Donations may be made to the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health/Canadian Mental Health Association or the Society Prevention Cruelty Animals.
A memorial gathering will take place on Thursday, September 2nd, 2021 from 7-9pm at Adams Funeral Home. A private family interment will follow. Arrangements entrusted to Adams Funeral Home. Messages of condolence may be forwarded to the family through adamsfuneralhome.ca
