It is with deep sorrow that we mourn the passing of James Andrew Small of Barrie.

 

Jim passed peacefully at the Royal Victoria Hospital on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 with his wife, Jean, at his side. He was in his 87th year.

 

Predeceased by his parents James M. Small and Katherine Dodds and sister Dawna MacLaren Small.

 

Jim is survived by spouse Jean Small (nee McQuay) and five children; David (late Brook), Christopher (Wendy), Cameron (Jacqueline), Steve (Carole) and Sue (Grant). He is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Lara, Molly, Sarah, Matthew, Kate, James, Elyse and 4 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nephews and nieces.

 

Jim was well-known for his prowess on the golf course. He was the champion for 10 years at the Barrie Country Club and was a mentor for many younger players who followed in his footsteps. His love of curling took him to many small towns in Ontario to compete.

 

Jim was also accomplished professionally where he served as Land Registrar for Simcoe County and York Region until his well-earned retirement in 1997.

 

In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations to his favourite charities, the Salvation Army, Royal Victoria Hospital, Barrie or Southlake Regional Health Center, Newmarket.

 

Family and friends may pay respects at Adams Funeral Home, 445 St Vincent Street, Barrie, Thursday August 18th from 7pm to 9pm. A private family funeral and interment will take place the next day.
