Richard, at the age of 65, passed away suddenly but peacefully at RVH surrounded by many family and friends. Loving husband to Sheila Slusarek. Best dad to Natasha (Seymour Wood). Loving step-dad to Tanya Ritchie (Scott) and Tracy Hexemer (Matt). Beloved son to Bronislaw (Bruno) Slusarek (pre-deceased) and Katarzyna (Kathy) Slusarek. Caring son-in-law to Muriel Butt. Cherished brother to Ted (Rozalia), Teresa Brzozowski (Chester), John (Daniela), Zofia Kameka (Monair) and Jerry. Caring Grandfather to Kaylyn, Laira & Chris Ritchie and Bryn & Jack Hexemer. Endeared uncle and great-uncle to many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Family and friends will be received at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Funeral service to be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 65 Amelia St, Barrie, ON L4M 1M8 on Thursday, December 21, 2017 from 10:00am to 11:00am. Following the service, family and friends are invited to Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home Worsley location for a reception. Internment to follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family invites friends to donate to the Canadian Cancer Society.
