Passed away peacefully with family by her side at Grove Park Home on Thursday, February 6, 2020 at the age of 81. Beloved wife of the late Arthur E. Powell (Powell Jones LLP). Cherished mother of Stephen Lundy Tinling Widdrington, Cheryl Ann Widdrington (Bill Bowen) and Michael Gerard Tinling Widdrington (Lara Sigurdson). Adored grandmother of Michael Peter, Andrew, Christopher, Kelsey, Zachary, Kyle, Spencer, Skylar and Cooper. Great grandmother to Caleb and Paisley.
Judith was born in Toronto, Ontario and settled in Barrie in 1961. Judith is recognized for her accomplished career as a Public Health nurse throughout Simcoe County. Judith was passionate about educating young women and played a pivotal role in opening the first Family Planning Birth Control Centre in Barrie in the late 70’s. Later in her career, she was an influential member of the Home Health Care team. Upon retirement she volunteered in various programs to assist the elderly in our community. Judith was a longstanding member of the Barrie Country Club.
Friends will be received at ADAMS FUNERAL HOME (445 St. Vincent St. Barrie) on Friday, February 14, 2020 from 1:30 p.m. until the time of Funeral Service at 3 o’clock p.m. Memorial donations to Alzheimer Society, Hospice Simcoe or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
