It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Steven Poirier of Barrie, Ontario on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at the age of 69.

Steve will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 45 years, Patsy (nee White), children Trevor (Susan), Jason (Stephanie), Michael, Jessica and his grandson Steven. Beloved son of the late Norman and Martha Poirier. Dear brother of Gary (Betty), the late Keith (Marilyn), Nancy (Mike), Barb (Andy) and Kathy. Dear brother-in-law to the late Penny (late Al), Terry (Grant), the late Nicky, the late Stephen, Graham, Wendy (Dan), and Linda (Don). Cherished uncle of many nephews and nieces.

Steve had a love of life and was always optimistic, in spite of life‘s many challenges. Steve had a sharp mind and quick wit, always able to make people laugh. Steve enjoyed a long and rewarding career in dispatching and logistics where he made lifelong friends. He was a passionate and dedicated employee, working long hours to get the job done. Steve’s many interests included board games, cards, thoughtful discussions on many topics (e.g. politics, current events), history, mysteries, classic rock, family genealogy, cars (he could recall 34 of the cars he owned over the years) and his hometown Habs.

Steve will always be remembered for his love of family (immediate and distant). He always spoke proudly and positively of everyone’s accomplishments, small or large. The family would like to thank the many healthcare professionals for their compassionate care, especially Steve’s Bayshore Home Health care nurses (Tammy, Charo, Artie). In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ontario SPCA Barrie branch, Barrie Foodbank or Kidney Foundation of Canada would be greatly appreciated.

A celebration of life to follow at a later date. “What the people need is a way to make ‘em smile. It ain’t so hard to do if you know how.” Doobie Brothers - Listen to the Music.  Words of comfort for the family may be left on Steve's Tribute page at barrie.basicfunerals.ca
