Peacefully passed away on Sunday August 15, 2021 at the age of 93.
Survived by his loving wife of 52 years Tricia, his children Clive Phillips, Neil Phillips, Tracey (Dale) McGrath, Melanie (Mark) Chan, Darren (Rachelle) Phillips and his much-adored grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Derek was a selfless, giving man who always put others before himself. He was kind, generous, intelligent and humble. He had a wonderful sense of humour and left a positive impact on anyone who crossed paths with him. He was a corporate man with a distinguished banking career in England and in Canada, but he never succumbed to the quintessential corporate image. He was a true family man and a wonderful patriarch to his family. He will be sorely missed but the spirit of his character and dignity will remain in our hearts forever. A private service will be taking place at the family home.
Derek loved nothing more than spending time with his family and friends, so in lieu of flowers or donations, please enjoy a family dinner in his honour and raise your glass to him.
