Bruce Leslie Owens, son of Leslie Harold Owens and Norah Elizabeth Owens (nee Chalmers) died suddenly on May 1st at the age of 69 years. Born in Cochrane, Ontario on October 28, 1949, Bruce moved to Barrie with his Mom in 1984. He worked at Barrie Union Cemetery, at Georgian College in the cafeteria and did landscaping during the summer. Bruce attended 5 pin bowling and Collier United Churches Jesus Walk with his friends from Community Living and was a longtime member of Collier United. He volunteered at the Parkview Centre and the Barrie Farmer’s Market. He will be sadly missed by his sister, Lynne Elizabeth Gibbon, and her husband Brian, nieces Samantha Anne and Amy Elizabeth and grand-niece Sarah Mae. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Barrie Public Library would be appreciated.
