Dorothy was born in Barrie, Ontario on February 13th, 1925 to Mary and Jack Beleskey, and passed peacefully at home with her family by her side on April 7th, 2022. Dorothy was the only girl amongst four brothers (all deceased).
Dorothy met her husband-to-be James W. McNeil (deceased Dec 9, 2009) when she was 16 years old and Dad was stationed at Camp Borden. They communicated by post for 4.5 years while James was overseas (WW2). He was later wounded and sent to Montreal for medical reasons and contacted Dorothy in Barrie, where he went to convalesce and never left.
Dorothy and Jim were married in 1946 and had 7 children. They celebrated 63 years of marriage but even after his death, she still counted the years.
Dorothy was a devoted mother to her children; the late Jimmy, Linda Espey (Fred predeceased), Cathie McNeil, Michael (Joan), Susan Fitzsimmons (Jamie), Debbie Fletcher, and Stephen. She was a loving Grandmother to 14 Grandchildren and 22 Great Grandchildren.
Dorothy was ready to be reunited with her husband, her parents, and her first-born Jimmy (deceased July, 2008). God has taken another Angel home.
Private family arrangements have been entrusted to the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie.
