August 16, 1921 – December 19, 2018 - On Wednesday December 19, 2018 , we regrettably lost our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother (GG), Sister, Aunt, Cousin and Friend when Joan passed away at Woods Park Care Centre in Barrie, Ontario. In her 98thyear, Joan was the eldest of five children born to Arthur J. H. Kidd ( 1892-1972) and Josena M. Andrews ( 1890-1976). Joan was predeceased by her son, Arthur Brian McLean (1944-1960) and her husband, Bruce H. McLean (1922-1998). She is lovingly remembered and sorely missed by her four children – Bob McLean (Lynn), Libby Campbell (Lloyd), Donna Sverdrup (Jason) and Joanne Lytwyn. Joan loved and cherished each and every one of her ten grandchildren and her twelve great-grandchildren who loved and cherished her right back ! Joan has gifted all those who knew her with many fond memories not soon to be forgotten. Her life was governed by principle “ Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” and she practiced what she preached, earning the love, respect and gratitude of her family and her community.
Please join us on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the afternoon at Cookstown United Church Cemetery on County Road 27 as we lay Joan to rest there in the company of her many family and friends who have gone before her. Following a short spring burial service at the cemetery there will be refreshments serviced at the Cookstown Public Library located at 20 Church Street beside the curling rink.
