Passed away peacefully in his 80th year on Friday, November 12, 2021 at home with his family by his side. Loving husband to Pamela McKee (Nee Miller) for 40 years. Father and mentor to Lisa McKee, Hiedi Stoate (Tom), Ashley McKee, Chris McKee (Phoenix), Whitney McKee (Penny), Raymond Brodersen (Portia). Adoring Grandfather to Liam, David, Lennox, Lillian, Aspen, Oaklyn and Liv. David was the oldest of 4 boys and is survived by his brother Michael McKee (Madeline) and predeceased by Gerry McKee and Tony McKee. He will be forever remembered by his many friends, the community and the RV Industry that he served at The Hitch House for 52 years. Prior to founding The Hitch House in 1969 he joined the COTP in 1961 and trained as an Officer Cadet at Base Borden for one and a half years. He was commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant in the Royal Canadian Dragoons (RCD) then served with the regiment as a Tank Troop Commander. He also served the regiment as the Regimental Transportation Officer as he had a love for all things mechanical. He then went on to proudly serve in the Canadian Army in various roles and appointments. He was in command of the parachute training program in Rivers, Manitoba and did over 800 parachute jumps himself. He was due to be promoted to Major but decided to take a shot at civilian life.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at The Hitch House (1490 ON-11, Shanty Bay) from 2-4 p.m. & 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will follow on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at The Hitch House at 1 p.m. A celebration of life and reception will take place at a later date.

The family would like to thank David’s loyal nurses and personal support workers for their amazing care.

In accordance with directives put in place by provincial governing bodies and the Public Health Unit facial coverings and proof of full vaccination are mandatory.
