Donald Ernest McFarland
December 23, 1928 – August 17, 2023
Donald E. McFarland in his 95th year passed away peacefully at home on Thursday August 17, 2023.
He leaves behind his wife and soulmate Maureen, his son Kenneth McFarland, and three stepchildren Ken Towers (Nancy), Karen Towers, and Kathleen Towers. He is also survived by his sister Vivian McFarland and niece Doloris Larose.
Beloved grandfather to his six grandchildren Kelly Boucher (Eric), Danny Lafontaine (Christie) of Timmins, Ontario, Reily Towers (Alex) of Timmins, Ontario, Trevor Towers (Jazz) of Timmins, Ontario, Justin Courville (Amanda), Austin Courville (Veronika) as well as his great grandchildren Kennedy, Tanner, Hudson, Ryker, Jaxon, Sylvannas, and Clarissa.
He is predeceased by his father Kenneth McFarland and mother, his brothers Ken McFarland and Albert McFarland, and sisters Mary Felson and Gladys Redburn.
Don will be sadly missed by his family and friends. His family is incredibly grateful for all the support they received from loved ones during this time, especially the kindness and thoughtfulness of the Poirier family (Roy and Freda).
There will be an interment gathering for Donald at 3 pm on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at the niche wall in Barrie Union Cemetery, followed by a reception at the IOOF (20 Brooks St, Barrie, Ontario).
