It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jennifer Mann on June 18th, 2021 at the age of 82, following a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Jennie is predeceased by her husbands Roy Thorpe, and Gerald Mann. Loving mother of Dawn Windross (Paul) and Wendy Stephenson (Doug). Cherished grandmother of Sean, Christopher, Leighe, Sam, Emily, Sarah, and Roy.

Born in England, Jennie moved to Canada at the age of 10 and called many places home throughout most of Ontario. While living in Markham, she was heavily involved with the community, volunteering for the Markham Fair and Girl Guides, before opening a cake decorating store appropriately called, “Jennie’s World of Cakes.” Later, in order to be closer to family, Jennie moved to Barrie, where she became known as a permanent fixture at the Collier Place Seniors Residence. She will be remembered by many as a seamstress, baker, volunteer, collector of mouse figurines, and a supporter of her grandchildren. Jennie will be fondly remembered by all whom she met, and sadly missed by those who knew her well.

A visitation will take place at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Monday, June 21st, 2021 from 7-9 p.m. A private family service will be held on Tuesday, June 22nd at 11 a.m., with public access via livestream. Interment to follow at Highland Memory Gardens, North York.

If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Simcoe or a charity of choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
