Dec 21, 1942 – March 23, 2022

Passed away peacefully surrounded by friends, at the Toronto Western Hospital on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at the age of 79.  Terry leaves behind a community of friends and neighbours who will greatly miss him, and his passionate contributions and never-ending generosity to his community, and to the organization he was most committed to, Camphill Communities Ontario.

Born in Gainsborough, England Terry spent his childhood in southern areas of Africa, in the region of Zimbabwe. Terry studied Geological Engineering in South Africa, where he met his future wife Else Koenigen.   After Terry and Else married, they moved to remote areas of Canada where there was a high demand for his skill as a Geological Engineer.

Tragedy struck in 1995 when Else suddenly passed away due to a stroke, and shortly after Terry decided to move to Barrie to be closer to friends and community connections, and he became actively and passionately involved with Camphill Communities Ontario.  Terry was also a member of the Ganaraska Trail Society, and spent a lot of time hiking and mushrooming, exploring the local lore, finding old rail trails and installing signs throughout the trail system.

Terry was a long time Board member of the Camphill Foundation taking on the role of Chair, and guiding it through its formative years, and eventually settled into the role of Investment Officer.  Terry was always learning and growing, continuing his education in fundraising, non-profit law, and investing.

Arrangements entrusted to the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie. Donations in Terry’s memory can be made to the Camphill Foundation Canada at and are greatly appreciated. Online condolences and memories may be left at www.steckleygooderham.com
