(May 15, 1954 – September 28, 2016) - Peacefully in his sleep after a long illness, John has left us and moved on to his next journey. Beloved husband and soulmate of Janette Seymour. John is mourned by his mother, Maureen Kinnear. Predeceased by his father, James Kinnear, his brother Gerald Kinnear and his nephew, Michael Seymour. John is survived by his brother Jim (Sandy Richards), his sister-in-law Leslie Cole, his sister Maureen (Rick Coburn), brother David (Karen) and his nephews and nieces Jimmy Coburn, John Coburn, Caitlin Kinnear (Mike DeRaaf), Lucy Columbe (Mark), William Kinnear (Vanessa), Aidan Kinnear and Natalie Kinnear. John is deeply missed by his brother-in-law Andrew Seymour (Trish Hayhurst) and his cherished nieces Paige, Jordyn and Grace.

John was a science teacher with the Simcoe County Board of Education for more than 20 years. His love of teaching was evident in every aspect of his life and his impact on his students will last for generations. John was a gentle soul who left us the gift of his many beautiful photographs. His unreserved love for his wife was just one indication of his quietly passionate nature. John was a caring friend, devoted uncle and loving son.

Friends and family are invited to join us in an afternoon of remembrance and celebration on October 6 at Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Homes, Minet’s Point Chapel from 3-5 pm. Photographs, music, stories, food and drink will be shared by all. Those who wish to share a favourite story or memory will be welcome to do so. And those who love a “wee dram” will lift a final glass of single malt scotch in joy and remembrance. In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s name may be made to Kidney Cancer Canada, or the charity of your choice and would be greatly appreciated by the family. Online memories and condolences may be left at www.steckleygooderham.com.
