KIGHTLEY, Evelyn

(October 5, 1919 - September 18, 2017) - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Evelyn Annie Kightley, (nee Hicks), on Monday, September 18, 2017 in her 98th year at the Avalon Care Centre in Orangeville Ontario. Beloved wife of the late George McMillan Kightley, and dear mother of Robert (Ann) Kightley, Roslyn (Brian) Wright and James (Zora) Kightley. Grandmother to Drew Kightley (Anita), Joel Kightley (Kerri), Laura Wright, and Great Grandmother to Liam, Isaiah, Solomon and Samuel. Evelyn was a strong willed woman who was a school teacher pre-war, a World War Two veteran as a Supply Officer in the Woman's Division of the RCAF, and returned to teaching school and raising her family post-war. She enjoyed travelling, playing cards and her many friends and was devoted to her family. She will be sadly missed. Private cremation and burial at the family plot will take place at the Barrie Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice. The family wishes to express their deepest thanks to the excellent team at the Avalon Care Centre for their support and attention to Evelyn over these past three years.
