Do not grieve for me as God has set me free

Clement, 85, of Barrie, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2022 with his wife, Barb by his side, at Victoria Village Manor. Pre-deceased by his brother, Lawrence and sister, Julie and brother-in-law, Joseph Piedl. He is survived by his two children, Roxane (Dan), Percy and Michelle Jutras (Aric), step children, Kim Duke and Steven Earle (Sara), grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Clem was born in Quebec moved to Welland, Ontario at age 7 and returned to Quebec at an older age to further his education. He loved sports and became team captain of his hockey team at St. Alexander College in Gatineau, capturing two years of consecutive championships in the Greater Ottawa Region. He spent a long and successful 35-year career with the Federal Government (Employment and Immigration) occupying various management positions in various cities in Ontario, last senior position as District Director, Georgian Bay/Central Region, retiring at age 57 in 1993. Travelling was his passion, spending time on various beaches during the journey to his beloved Mexico. His wonderful humour will be sadly missed and he will be fondly remembered by many. Alzheimer’s robbed a great man who has now been set free.

The staff at Victoria Village Manor were absolutely wonderful with Clement’s care. Friends that continued to visit him during his lengthy journey, can not be thanked enough. We will all miss his generous ‘free’ hugs and happiness he instilled in us.

A small private celebration will be held, at a later date, at his internment at St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Alzheimers Society of Barrie or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
