Passed away at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, Barrie on Sunday, December 5, 2021, two days after her 93rd birthday. Beloved wife of the late Ivor Jarrett. Cherished mother of Ann Jarrett (Tim Lem) and Trevor Jarrett (Jennifer). Loving grandmother to Jarrett Lem and Beth Jarrett. Dear sister to Christine Howard (late Syd Howard) and the late Graham Gould (Linda Gould); and aunt to the late Greg Howard, Deidre Howard, Victoria Leng, Jeff Gould, Jo-Ann Thorpe & their families. Co-grandmother Judy Lem (YenYen) will miss Jean (Nana) and their many dinners & games nights together. Jean will be missed by her extended family and friends in Canada and England. They say that if you can bring a smile to a person’s face, then your time on this earth is time well spent. Jean regularly made people laugh out loud! We all have our own funny stories of Jean. She was our Mother, our Auntie, our Nana, our sibling, our friend. When you make it into your 90’s, you accumulate many descriptive words to show what you have meant to people along the way. Mischievous, joking, hilarious, loyal, devoted, strong, resilient, loving…. so many more. Dementia took some of her away from us early, but her “essence” remained with her throughout. If a funny hat appeared, it was on her head. If there was music, she was singing and dancing! If there was a card game, she was in it and often winning! Even in hospital, her sense of humour remained with her as she had staff laughing with her and her antics. The journey was long, and her life was so full. Thank you for the smiles, the giggles, the laughs, and so many happy memories. We love you very much. We always will.
A Celebration of Jean’s life will be held at a later date with interment of cremated remains at Barrie Union Cemetery. If so desired, memorial donations to the Terry Fox Foundation or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
