Passed away at his home on Friday December 13th, 2019 at the age of 90.
Beloved husband of Ninka (nee Storm). Loving father of Jake Hovius and his wife Catherine, Jeannette Radder and her husband Andrew, Sidney Hovius and his wife Elizabeth, Robert Hovius and his wife Michele. Grandfather of Michael (Lissette), Kristina (James), Graham (Melissa), Evan (Rebecca), Warren (Megan), Darin (Kaily), Daryl (Mel), Danielle, Janelle (predeceased), Dustin (Cara), Nicole (Dusty), Jamie (Lyneia), Melissa (Bradley) and Josh. Great grandfather of Noah, Aidan, Kailyn, Preston, Bronson, Carmen, Issy, Jailyn, Colton, Veda, Jove and Emmett. Dear brother of Janny Steiger, Denise Storteboom, and Derk Hovius and his wife Anita. Predeceased by Yvonne Wierenga and her husband Menze, Jacob Hovius and his wife Kay, Pietjie Hiemstra, and brother-in-law Tim Storteboom. Will also be sadly missed by his brothers-in-law Henry Hiemstra and Henry Steiger and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Jennett Funeral & Cremation Centre 152 Bradford St. Barrie on Monday from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00pm. A celebration of his life will be held at First Christian Reformed Church 33 Shirley Ave., Barrie on Tuesday December 17th, 2019 at 2:00pm. Private interment at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bradford. Memorial donations to Timothy Christian School would be appreciated by the family.
