HOOVER, Earl Donald

Earl Donald Hoover was born October 6, 1936 in Tichbourne, Ontario. Earl passed away May 23, 2023 due to cancer. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Joyce Hoover (nee Rose), his children Rick Hoover (Marlene), Gloria Slessor (James), Neil Hoover (Sonja) and Myron (Janet), 9 grandchildren Daniel, Christina, Joshua, Alissa, Jason, Bethany, Nathaniel, Rebekah and Hannah, 18 great grandchildren Madison, Isabella, Oakley, Adam, Emma, Sophie, Justice, Dylan, Ryan, Olivia, Taylor, Summer, Zachary, Alina, Charlotte, Anna, Benjamin and William

Earl was the youngest son of Nathaniel and Della Hoover. His brothers were Harold, Harvey, Lorne & Elwood.

Earl had a great passion for southern Gospel music, which was his way for sharing the love of his Saviour, Jesus Christ. He and his brother Elwood were the original members of the Freemen, who sang together for over 25 years. Deep friendships developed with each new member and their families. They travelled throughout Ontario singing in churches and other venues. They recorded 5 albums.

After the singing years, Earl was involved in church activities, and as well, starting the Stayner Community Garden.

Earl will be remembered for his love for Jesus, his love for people, Southern Gospel music, cute sense of humour and pride for his family.
