Passed away at Hospice Simcoe, Barrie with family by her side, on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at the age of 90. Born in London, England in 1929 Anita attended the Royal Academy of Ballet. When she moved to Canada in 1966, settling in Sarnia, Ontario, she opened the Sarnia School of Dance where she taught until 86 years of age. Anita volunteered at Sarnia General Hospital for many years; organized Canada Day Sarnia for 51 years; was a founding member of Sarnia Folk Arts Council; member of the Sarnia Police Services Board; member of the University Women’s Club; member of All Saints Church; and to no one’s surprise she received the Silver Jubilee and Trillium Award from the province of Ontario for volunteer work in the community. Anita was passionate about family, community and multiculturism. Her passion for dance was evident in every area of her life. She will be sadly missed by family, former students and many friends. She touched so many lives. Beloved wife of the late Donald Graham Hobbs (2007). Loved mother of Karen Dusome (Wayne). Cherished grandmother to Katie Keller (Nathan), Adam Dusome, and Taylor Dusome (Paige). Great grandmother to Benson. A service to celebrate Anita’s life will be held in Sarnia in the spring. Memorial donations to Hospice Simcoe, Barrie; St. Joseph’s Hospice, Sarnia; or a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
