It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Elda, in her 83rd year at home surrounded by her family on March 25, 2022. Loving wife of 64 years to Charlie Hastings and cherished mother of Kim Arts (Don Leatherdale), Karrie (Bill) Lawson and Rusty (Kelly) Hastings. Loving Gramma to Stephanie (Dave), Tatum (Kent), Nigel (Adriana), Tyler (deceased) (Michelle), Krista (Kevin), and Corey (Amy).
Also, Great Gramma to Sasha, Oliver, Noah, Nixie, Atticus, Ty, Kyson, Kyler, Paityn, Presley and Kamila. Beloved daughter of the late Murray and Verna Hutchinson, dear sister to Diane
(Don) Anderson and Lorna (Barry) Lemay and sister-in-law to Roy (Pat) Hastings, Doug (Joyce) Wilson (both deceased). Fondly remembered by many nieces,
nephews and extended family.
Elda was an accomplished horseshoe player. She played at the highest levels throughout Canada and the US, winning the Ontario Women's Horseshoe championship in 1993 & 1999. Elda was a lifetime member of the United Church and enjoyed family gatherings, Guthrie Guild, bowling, crafting, gardening, dancing and shuffle boarding while wintering in Florida. She was a kind, caring and loving person who did many things for many people, including endless hours of volunteering.
Friends will be received at the Adams Funeral Home, 445 St. Vincent Street, Barrie, on Tuesday, March 29 from 7-9pm and Wednesday, March 30 from 10:30am-12pm, followed by a service in the chapel at 12pm. Private Cremation will take place at a later time.
Memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
