HANDY, Marguerite

With much sadness, but with gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of Marg Handy one day after her 90th birthday. Predeceased by her beloved husband Lorne (“Lornie”). Dear mother of Susan Culver (Paul), David (Nancy) and Lynn (Irena). Marg took great joy and pride in her grandchildren Shannon (Rob), Lindsay (Collin), Sam (Emilie), Maddie (David), and Molly (Cody). Sadly missed by her 3 brothers, Alan, Jim, Tom, sister-in-law Betty, and many nieces, nephews and other dear family and friends. Marg was very active in the Dalston community, playing key roles in the Dalston UCW and Women's Institute. She loved to entertain her family and friends, and cooking fabulous dinners for any occasion. She was especially renowned for her pies and butter tarts. In recent years, she enjoyed leading trivia quizzes and baking at Woods Park Retirement Residence. Family and friends will be received at Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Friday July 14, 2017 from 7 to 9 pm. A celebration of Marguerite’s life will follow the next day, Saturday, in the chapel of the funeral home starting at 11 am. Visitation from 10 am. After a reception, burial will follow at Dalston Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marg’s memory may be made to Dalston Union Cemetery, or the charity of your choice and are greatly appreciated.
