(May 24, 1944 - November 18, 2018) - Pauline Christina Hauck Grenon, 74. Passed away peacefully at Hospice Simcoe in Barrie, Ontario after suffering a brain aneurysm. Raised in Oyen, Alberta, the oldest child to Frank and Bertha, sister to Dwight, Eugene, Ann-Marie, Angie and Ronnie. She is survived by her two children, Jeff and Michelle, and two grandchildren, Lily and Orla. A chartered accountant, she started her career working for an Alberta oil company. She eventually became a real-estate agent in Calgary, a career that would take her out east to Barrie. There, she co-owned a real estate business, and later, sold homes for some of Ontario’s most prolific builders. She was a devout Catholic and practiced what she preached, directing her own lengthy struggle with Parkinson’s disease to provide support and caring for the sick and dying. Her compassion, resilience and generosity were among her many qualities. Pauline loved to cook, garden, practice Tai-Chi, gold, curl, listen to music and win at cards-especially against her grandchildren. Pauline was a country-girl who moved to the big city, but never forgot her small-town roots. Although a world traveler, she often remarked that her heart belonged to the golden prairies and endless blue sky of Alberta. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church (65 Amelia Street, Barrie) on Thursday, November 22, 2018 at 10 o’clock a.m. Interment to follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Barrie. Memorial donations may be made to Parkinson Canada.
