Our beautiful Mother/Grandmother Maxine Flippin made her transition at 5:20 pm. June 28, 2022.

Surrounded by love and family spending her last four days at Hospice Simcoe, looked after by the phenomenal Dr. Stepida and exceptional nurses, PSWs and volunteers.

We were so blessed to be raised by a vibrant, courageous and sassy woman who time and time beat the odds. Her inner strength and her love of life was beyond measure. She was the life of the party and yet she lived life with grace and gratitude. She was one of 12 born in Campti, Louisiana. She came to Canada with her husband Cecil, who worked on the pipeline. They arrived with two small daughters Cecelia Shaw and Julie Flippin. She added two more children, a son Charles Flippin and daughter Sheri Scaini.

She became a nurse and spent her career at Southlake Hospital in Newmarket and after retirement became a private nurse. During these years she travelled and lived life to the fullest. Maxine retired to Naples Florida and became a snowbird while often visiting her sister Sally Ann Gass, her birthday twin born 10 years apart. She was loved by so many, and received many marriage proposals over the years, however chose to remain wild and free on her own.

Maxine was loved immensely by her 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She loved a glass of wine, playing golf, spending time with her family, crocheting and creating beautiful art. This year our family golf tournament will be a memorial tournament honouring our beautiful Maxine/Mom/Grandma/Maw Maw. A Celebration of Life will take place at Ferndale Banquet Hall (24 Ferndale Industrial Dr., Barrie) on Sunday, July 10th from 1-3 pm.

We would kindly ask in lieu of gifts or flowers that a donation in money, food or goods be made to Hospice Simcoe.

Messages of condolence may be forwarded to the family through adamsfuneralhome.ca
