DYKSTRA, Riet (Maria)   It is with great sadness that the family of Riet Dykstra announces her passing.   After a courageous battle with cancer, the Lord called His servant, Riet Dykstra (nee Mudde) home on Sunday, September 5, 2021.  Born on June 30, 1935, in Lekkerkerk, The Netherlands, Riet was the eldest daughter of the late Bastiaan & Aletta Mudde.  Beloved wife of nearly 50 years to the late Leo Dykstra.  Much loved mother to Clarence & Zwaan, Brian & Thérèse, and Kathrin & Jan.  Dear Oma to Ashlee & Marcel, Caitlynn & Rens, Rylan, Lauren, Danielle & Matt, Mitchell & Leslie, Chris & Rachel, Jenna, Jeremy & Calvin.  Loving great-oma to Otis, James and Moïs. Dear sister of Peter Mudde (Jannie), (the late Jane)(the late Vic) Treimstra, Cor Mudde (the late Robert), Joe Mudde (Marie), Letty Smidstra (Ben), Willie Kloosterman (Sid), Jack Mudde (Mary), Anton Mudde (Julie),  Nico Mudde (Nora), Markye Pot (the late Jake), John Mudde (Carol),and (the late Henry Mudde) (Gen). Riet also leaves behind many cherished cousins, brother & sister in-laws, nieces and nephews. Many thanks to those in mom’s (and our) church and community that have supported her/us with visits, emails, calls, meals and prayers. We all have been greatly blessed by the love that has been shown to mom & to us during her illness.   In addition, the family also gratefully acknowledges the medical community that has supported her & the family throughout  her illness - Simcoe Muskoka Regional Cancer Centre, RVH,  Sunnybrook & the volunteers within these organizations, Dr. Handrahan, Dr. Singh, Dr. Yuen, home-care nurses and especially, her family doctor, Dr. David Evans & nurse Karen, who made this journey much less stressful and provided care beyond expectations. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made  World Renew Disaster Response (formerly CRWRC) or Mission Aviation Fellowship.  Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family by visiting www.funeralhome.on.ca “Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting” ~ Psalm 139 vs 23 & 24  Visitation will be held at Covenant Christian Reformed Church 101 Ardagh Road on Thursday, September 9th from 6pm - 9pm.   Please RSVP your plans to attend via the Jennett website as shown below.  A private Celebration of life will be held on Friday September 10th at 11 am for members of the immediate family.  Others are welcome to join us on Zoom using this link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82856418476?pwd=MXdRYU9ycHB4V3dIMDhwV2NTb0MwQT09  and these numbers: Meeting ID: 828 5641 8476  Passcode: 360905   Private interment will be held prior to the Celebration of Life at Thornton Union Cemetery. 

Please Note:  As of September 22, all persons attending an indoor funeral service or visitation must show proof of vaccination against Covid-19, or proof of a negative COVID-19 rapid test taken within 48 hours of the funeral/service, or a medical exemption signed by a doctor or nurse.  Children under 12 are exempt.  Masks must be worn, and we encourage everyone to practice social distancing for the safety of everyone.  Your cooperation is appreciated.
