We are heartbroken to announce that Susan passed away on Thursday, March 2nd, 2023 after a long private battle with cancer. Beloved wife of Stewart (predeceased September 2022), loving mother to Eleanor and Craig (Kelly), and Gramma to Sam, Rebecca, Josh, Brody and Azalea.
Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Susan came to Canada in 1961 for a year and ended up staying for a lifetime. She worked at Brunswick in Toronto where she met Stewart before moving to Barrie to raise a family. She cherished her years and friendships built in Barrie’s east end and later in Midhurst.
Susan was an avid walker and enjoyed racquet sports. She was also a fixture in the YMCA and East Bayfield C.C. pools. She will be widely remembered for her razor-sharp Glaswegian wit, and love for wordplay.
Susan’s greatest gift to the world was her capacity to be a safe harbour to friends and strangers alike. Her capacity to hold space for people's triumphs and tragedies was remarkable. In dark moments, she would bring in the light to lift your spirits.
She modelled Courage, Compassion, Encouragement and Wisdom. Her quiet presence and unwavering Love will be deeply missed.
