DUGARD William Robert Richard
With sadness for our loss but joy for his rest, we announce the passing of our much-loved husband, dad, papa, great-papa, brother, uncle and friend at the age of 83. He left this world peacefully—and fittingly—on Family Day, February 17, 2020 at Hospice Simcoe with his family around him. Bob was born at home in Montreal North on June 7, 1936 and had five siblings; Barbara, Marilyn and Jim, who all survive him, and Doris and Evelyn, who predeceased him. He was married to Beverley for 56 years and had two sons, Todd and Brad. They married, respectively, Cheryl and Suzy, who were every bit Bob’s daughters. He was the proudest Papa to his three grandkids who became six through marriage; Joel and his wife Meggan, Emilie and her husband Jordan, and Luke and his wife Camryn. And the last eight months were so special as he took on the title of Great-Papa to Annie. Bob made an impression on everyone he met, making people feel loved and welcomed. Occasionally grumpy and always eager to poke fun, Bob also selflessly gave his time to anyone who needed it, building, fixing and moving things all across the city. Most importantly, he surrendered his life to Jesus Christ and lived, as best he could, for his Lord and Saviour, most recently telling his palliative nurse, “I trust God. He has a plan.” A memorial service will be held at Harvest Bible Chapel, 7 George Street, Barrie at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 23, 2020. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations should be made to the Harvest Bible Chapel Barrie Building Fund or Children of Promise Ministries. His ashes will be interred in the spring at Barrie Union Cemetery.
